The Commercial Register of Central Valais (districts of Sierre, Sion, Hérens and Conthey) is a public register whose purpose is to identify the companies that carry out commercial activities in the canton of Valais and to guarantee the security of information and the respect of the law, including private law (art. 1 ORC).

The information contained in the Commercial Register of the Valais varies according to the legal form of the company, but generally includes the name or company name, the registered office, the purpose of the company, the management and control bodies, the share capital, the persons authorized to sign on behalf of the company, and certain other remarks, and in any case makes it possible to identify the system of representation and liability.
All companies must be registered in the Commercial Register; however, for certain legal forms, registration is only obligatory under certain conditions (e.g., self-employed persons are only obliged to register if their turnover exceeds CHF 100'000):

The registrations are published in the Feuille officielle du commerce, also called FOSC, which is published by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). For a search on companies, the data of the Valais Commercial Register is publicly available and can be consulted online on the Zefix website or in the offices of the Valais Commercial Register (Pl. du Midi 30, 1950 Sion).
The Valais Commercial Register is a public service and is governed by the Code of Obligations and the regulation on the Commercial Register, as well as by the regulation on the fees of the Valais Commercial Register.
